Dubare Elephant Camp

This elephant camp is run by Jungle lodges. They have an elephant interaction programme of 2-3 hours whereby you get a chance to bathe feed the elephants. The island is reached by crossing a river by boat.

Namdroling Monastry (The Golden Temple)

Bylukuppa is the biggest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet. Here you get to see their way of life and architecture, buy Tibetan handicrafts and even taste authentic Tibetan dishes. There are two Tibetan monasteries here namely Namdroling and Sera. The Golden temple or Namdroling monastery is a centre of Buddhist teachings and a home to 5000 monks and nuns. The huge Golden Buddha statues are worth seeing.

Cauvery Nisarga Dhama

Forest department maintains this wonderful picnic spot, on the banks of river Cauvery, near Kushalnagar. The hanging bridge, pedal boat center, tree top shelters, elephant safari the deer
park are the main attractions of Cauvery Nisargadhama.

Thadiyandamol Hill

Thadiyandamol (5,724 ft) is the highest peak of the district and is situated near Nalknad Palace which is 40 km from Madikeri. The peak is not altogether inaccessible; two-third of it can be negotiated on a jeep. The topmost position is rather difficult to ascent.

The best season to visit is during December to May.

Nagarhole National Park

Also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park this sanctuary covers 248 sq mi. It is accessible by a good all-weather motor able road from Thithimati, which branches of from Mysore Madikeri. Most of the South Indian species of animals are spotted here like wild elephants, bison, spotted deer, samba deer, wild boar and sloth bear. Tigers and panthers are also occasionally seen. The elephant camps of the forest department, on the banks of the Lakshmanatheertha River, are another attraction to the visitors.

Safaris are organized in the Forest department vans two times a day; early morning and evening.

Iruppu Falls

This refreshing Iruppu Falls is situated in the Brahmagiri Range at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the way to Nagarhole.

Talacauvery

Talacauvery is the birthplace of the sacred river Cauvery. It is situated on the slopes of the Brahmagiri Hills, and can be reached by a motor able road from Bhagamandala, which is at a distance of 8 km. There are temples dedicated to lshwara & Ganapathi at the source of Cauvery. The "Tula Sankramana" day (usually falling in the month of October) is regarded as the most auspicious day for visiting Talacauvery.

There is a small square tank (Cauvery Kundike) by the side of a fairly big tank in Talacauvery, which is the source of the river. It is believed that on the day of the “Tula Sankramana", at an auspicious time, the holy Cauvery appears, and that her arrival is indicated by a sudden upsurge of the water in the pond. Near the source of Cauvery, one can climb up about 300 feet to the summit of the Brahmagiri peak where, it is said, the seven great sages meditated. From the top of the hill one can feast his eyes with splendid display of nature. Apart from its importance as a centre of pilgrimage, Talacauvery is an ideal place for a visit by any tourist, for its natural beauty.

Bhagamandala

This is a well-known pilgrimage centre situated at a distance of 39 kms from Madikeri. Bhagamandala is on the banks of the confluence of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannike and the sub terranian Sujyoti, popularly known as 'Triveni Sangama'. The famous Sri Bhangadeswara temple is located here. A large number of tourists visit Bhagamandala, particularly during the Thula Sankramana yatra and the entire Thula month. (October-November)

Kotte Betta

This is the third highest peak in Kodagu District (5400 ft above sea level).

Trekking distance - 14 km to and fro;

Kottebetta ranks third after Thadiyandamol and Brahmagiri peaks in Coorg. It is a perfect place for trekking in Coorg. A guide will definitely be of help during trekking. No permission is required to trek Kottebetta, Anyone can go trekking with proper trekking equipment and gadgets. The best season tor trekking is from October to March.

Wear proper shoes, carry a torch, insect repellents and a first aid kit without fail.

Mandalpatti

Mandalpatti hillocks offer breath-taking views of the mountain ranges covered in mist and dew. The route from Madikeri is a great drive through coffee plantains. The view point is about 1600 meters above sea-level.

Highly recommended for its amazing view of the beautiful hillocks and an adventurous drive to the top!

Omkareshwara Temple

Omkareshwara Temple This temple was built by Lingaraja in 1620 is a perfect blend of Islamic and Gothic styles of architecture The temple is dedicated to Lord Siva, and the Siva Linga brought from Kashi (Varanasi) has been installed here. Legend has it that the king built the temple to absolve himself of his wrong doings.

Abbey Falls

About 8 kms from Madikeri is the beautiful waterfall and picnic spot, where the Abbey cascades 70ft down to flow as a small river. A path through coffee and cardamom plantation off the main road adds to the attraction of the perennial waterfall.

Raja Seat

Perched atop a hill, overlooking a wide valley is the place where the kings spent their evenings, watching the spectacular sunset and mesmerizing view of the valley around. A toy train named 'Baba Saheb Express' takes children and adults on a ride to enjoy a view of the park.
